This time around, the theme is angst. What are your favourite stories that tug at your heartstrings and leave you wishing you could make it all better?

Please remember to include the title, author, link, rating (if available), and some indication of what the story's about and/or why people should read it.

Please limit yourself to five recs in total for this theme.

The full list of rules is available here. Any questions or comments should go on the introduction post so that this post doesn't get cluttered with non-rec comments.

Remember that you can still go back and add some recs on the previous themed rec posts.

The next theme up is comment fic. We've had quite a run of this lately with communities like [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic, and some good stuff has come out of it. So what are your favourite stories told in 4300 characters or less? (16000 characters on Dreamwidth, and yes, that counts too.)

Please remember to include the title, author, link, rating (if available), and some indication of what the story's about and/or why people should read it.

This is the first in a series of themed recommendation posts.

The first theme, appropriately enough, is firsts. Post recs to your favourite stories featuring a first kiss, first date, or the first time John and Cam got together. The stories can be about a one-night stand, a few short nights together, or the beginning of an ongoing relationship.

Please remember to include the title, author, link, rating (if available), and some indication of what the story's about and/or why people should read it.

We've now hit 200 fics on the John/Cam fic list! To celebrate this achievement (and to make it easier for people to find specific types of stories), I'm going to start posting themed calls for recs.

The process is very simple: every two weeks or so, I'll post a theme. Anyone who wants to can reply with a comment listing recs related to the theme.

The rules:

1. You can post signed or anonymous recs, as you like.
2. Recs must include the title, author, link, rating (if available), and some indication of what the story's about and/or why people should read it.
3. You can leave multiple recs in the same comment. You can also comment multiple times if you think of additional stories you want to recommend.
4. As much as possible, I'd prefer that people not repeat story recs on the same post, but if you're particularly enthusiastic about a story and want to second (or third or fourth) someone else's rec by replying to their comment with your own reasons people should read that story, go ahead.
5. The same story can be recommended in response to multiple themes, as long as it's appropriate to each.
6. There's no time limit on recs. If you find a story you love six months from now that fits one of the themes, please come back and rec it. I'd love it if these posts became an ongoing resource for John/Cam fans.

I'm debating whether or not to limit the number of stories people can rec for each theme. I'd like to keep the quality of the recs up, but I know there are a lot of great authors who write John/Cam, and I don't want good stories to fail to make the cut. I'm going to tentatively put a limit of five recs per person per theme, but if you'd rather see a different limit or no limit at all, please leave a comment to that effect. If a consensus emerges for a different approach, I'll change the rules. (Incidentally, the limit only applies to stories already written at the time the post goes up. If you see a story a few weeks or months from now that's striking enough that you want to come back and recommend, please do, even if you're already at five recs. Also, seconding someone else's recommendation doesn't count towards the limit.)

Questions? Comments? Themes you'd like to see? Post 'em here.

The first theme will go up shortly.
