I spent the evening come up with Cam/John recs for various people, and then it occurred to me that I could spread out the workload with a new rec post! Plus it's been a while since we last had one of these, and a lot of new fic has come out in that time, including the most recent round of the Thing-a-Thon over at

sg_flyboys.

This is pretty informal - if you're looking for something (say, NC-17 or first times or John's POV), leave a comment on this post describing what you want, and maybe someone will will come along and rec something. If you see a request and have a rec, share it! Even if someone else has gotten there first. The more recs, the merrier. (Hopefully people will keep checking back here for a few days so that everyone's requests get fulfilled.)

Second, if you're looking for John/Cam things to do, here are a few ideas:

stargate_summer |

stargate_summer - Sign-ups are open at the annual SG-1 Big Bang challenge (minimum 20 000 words). Writer sign-ups run until March 31st, which is the same day the rough drafts are due. So if you don't like pressure, you can write the whole thing and then sign up. Artist, etc. sign-ups begin on March 15th and run until April 11th. Stargate crossovers are fine as long as the focus is on SG-1 characters.

sgareversebang |

sgareversebang - A Big Bang in which the art comes first! Artist sign-ups are open until January 31st; writer sign-ups close February 29th. The minimum word count 10 000 words; more info here.

If you're looking for a more flexible Big Bang,

timetraveler_bb is a multi-fandom Big Bang focusing on travel through time and/or space (i.e., the perfect set-up for all sorts of Stargate stories!). Minimum word count is 10 000 words.

cm_tropefic |

cm_tropefic is currently running a poll on whether to extend the challenge to include Vala, or just stick to Cam. Okay, the Vala side isn't really very John/Cam, so mostly this is a reminder that sign-ups will probably open soon, and who doesn't want to write John/Cam wing!fic?

Finally, check out the Canadian Shack 10th Anniversary Party! Anyone want to write five hundred or so words of John and Cam in a Canadian shack?

apocalypse_kree is an apocalyptic fic challenge for all three Stargate shows in the claim-a-prompt challenge style. Prompt collection is open until July 30th, and both writers and non-writers are allowed to prompt. Prompt claiming will begin on August 1st. Fic is due between September 20th and September 30th. Come leave some John/Cam prompts! And maybe some other prompts too.

dadt_repeal_fic is, as the name suggests, a multi-fandom community for posting fic about characters dealing with the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. There are no prompts--write what you want. Fic is due by September 20th.

Porn Battle XII: The Dirty Dozen opens for prompts tomorrow! The Q&A post is now up on DW and LJ. There are also beta reader posts up if you want to volunteer. Start thinking of prompts!

somehowunbroken and I are putting together a page on John/Cam for

sga_guide, and we'd love to get feedback from other John/Cam fans to make sure we're fairly representing this section of fandom.

The purpose of this page is to provide a starting point for people who are interested in John/Cam. We're aiming to provide a bit of context, some info on what this section of fandom looks like, places to go look for other John/Cam fannish material, and a sampling of fannish works (fic, art, vids, etc.).

What we're looking for from you is any comments you might have, especially any major tropes we missed that frequently show up in John/Cam works, suggestions for other fannish works that you consider touchstones for the pairing, and anything else you think we're missing...or that you don't think should be included on the page. (We're trying to keep the total number of fannish works to twenty-five or fewer, so if you're going to suggest a few, it would also be helpful if you indicated which ones you thought should be taken down to make room. The things we were looking for in deciding what to include are touchstone works, stories that highlight common John/Cam tropes, stories everyone seems to have read and loved, and so on.)

I am trying to polish up a very late gift for a friend and I'm stuck on an Stargate Atlantis thing. (The problem isn't directly 'shipper or even Sheppard-related, but I promise the fic ~~sort of~~ is.)

The question: Is there a basic naming system for 'Gate teams on Atlantis? The SGC has it simple; SG-(#), but I've asked two friends, as well as gone over every potentialy relivent page on both gateworld.net and the SG Wikia site, and I still don't have an answer. And if there isn't a naming system in canon, is there a generally accepted on in the fandom?

(Sorry that this is my first post to the comm, but I don't have anywhere else to go. I can, however, promise that a very silly fic will follow.)

I wanted to drop in and announce that

sg_darkfic has been opened up for all members to post links to their favorite darkfic in both SG-1 and SGA (it used to be only SG-1 but then I sorta did a total swan dive into SGA fic thanks to John/Cam fic.)

I know that there isn't a great many stories with John/Cam that can be considered "dark", but there are enough that I thought members here would be interested. So drop on by and please forgive the sparseness of linked stories at the moment, hopefully that'll change soon. Please check out this post for more information on the changes and how to join in the fun.
